ANNUAL AWARDS
The nomination period has now opened for our Business Person of the Year, Employee of the Year and Citizen of the Year. Each year, these awards are presented at the Chamber’s Board Installation and Awards event.
Completed nomination forms are due at the Chamber office by
Thursday, January 4, 2024. See below for links to applications and selection procedures. Completed applications can be brought to the Chamber office (5155 Irwindale Ave., Irwindale, CA, 91706), emailed to
ashley@irwindalechamber.org OR mailed to us (P.O. Box 2307, Irwindale, CA, 91706).

JOE DiSHANNI BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
The Irwindale Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year Award is known as the “Joe DiShanni Business of the Year Award”. Joseph DiShanni is credited with founding the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce in 1980 and played a key role in the Industrial and Business Development of Irwindale. Mr. DiShanni passed away in October 2003 at age 94. The Business of the Year is chosen based on Excellence in Business, Service to the Chamber and Community, and initiative and creativity.
Current year business of the month honorees are eligible for award.
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR & EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
- Demonstrates excellence in their business or profession
- Provides valuable service to the Irwindale Chamber
- Provides valuable service to the community (can be other than Irwindale)
- Exhibits initiative and creativity
- Represents a current Irwindale Chamber Member Business
Other items of consideration include
- Business accomplishments including State special recognition or projects, length of time in business and demonstrated leadership.
- Community service including participation in civic and service organizations, charitable activities, religious groups, educational institutions & other involvements, such as youth groups and
- Chamber of Commerce activity including serving on committees and the board of directors, serving as a volunteer at an event, being a sponsor or partner with a particular program or service
AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR
Current Ambassadors are eligible for award.
CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
The Citizen of the Year is awarded to an Irwindale resident that:
- Makes contributions to the welfare and betterment of Irwindale
- Participates in other community and civic enterprises
- Exhibits a spirit of cooperation with organizations and individuals
