Business Accomplishments:
Seventh Street Development is a privately held real estate development company specializing in Southern California industrial, office and mixed-use commercial projects.   Seventh Street has been a member of the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce for 13 years.   Since its inception in 2003, Seventh Street has developed numerous successful and award-winning projects totaling approximately 2,500,000 square feet in over 50 buildings in various cities including Irwindale, Pomona, Riverside, and San Bernardino.  Below, Seventh Street’s newest Irwindale Project is highlighted as well as two prior projects the company has completed in Irwindale.
Seventh Street’s newest project, called the Alderson Business Park, is a 10-acre, 5-building, 195,000 square foot master-planned office and industrial project planned for the Southeast Corner of Los Angeles Street and Alderson Avenue.   The project is just one block north of the Baldwin Park Metrolink/Bus Transportation Center.  Five state-of-the-art industrial buildings ranging in size from 28,250 square feet to nearly 50,000 square feet are under construction and expected to be completed in late July 2017.   Each building will have 5,500 square feet of two-story executive offices and ample parking which can accommodate manufacturing and distribution companies.  The buildings will feature attractive Mission-style architecture and are expected to bring five new job-producing businesses to Irwindale.
Seventh Street worked closely with the residents and City staff of both Irwindale and Baldwin Park to create a project all will be proud of and which will be an outstanding addition to the neighborhood.  For example, along Alderson Avenue fronting the project, there will be an over-standard 34-foot setback to the buildings which will include a cobble stone-lined dry creek bed that will be surrounded by extensive landscaping, a nine-foot sidewalk and new public fire hydrants replacing the inadequate current sidewalk and fire protection.  Additionally, as part of the land acquisition, Seventh Street worked with the City of Irwindale to help the AMVETS Post #113 gain ownership of their current facility adjacent to the project so they can continue their 56-year history of serving veterans.
Seventh Street’s two prior projects in the City of Irwindale are the Huy Fong Foods facility and Speedway Business Park.   Huy Fong Foods, one of the largest and best known manufacturers of sriracha hot sauce in the world, selected Seventh Street Development in February 2008 as development manager for its new headquarters and food manufacturing facility.  The building at 655,000 square feet is the largest building ever constructed in the City of Irwindale and features sustainable design elements. Construction began in October 2010 and the project was completed in the Fall of 2011.  Seventh Street was responsible for all aspects of the project including site selection and acquisition, entitlement, design, permitting and construction management.  (Seventh Street was not involved in the design and installation of the processing equipment.)  This project was awarded both “2012 Los Angeles County Industrial Project of the Year – LA Business Journal” and “2012 California Community Redevelopment Agency Award of Excellence – Best Commercial/Industrial Project.”
Another Irwindale project completed by Seventh Street is the Speedway Business Park, a 4-acre master-planned industrial park located near the intersection of the 605 and 210 Freeways which was completed in 2006.  The project was the first project constructed under Irwindale’s Commercial and Industrial Design Guidelines.  Speedway Business Park is an architecturally distinctive mission-style campus consisting of four freestanding buildings totaling 85,000 square feet.
Seventh Street Development is named after the historic Seventh Street Produce Market in Downtown Los Angeles, where the two founding principals first met.  Its managing principal, Craig Furniss, has over 30 years of broad development experience and is personally engaged in each project.  Seventh Street takes pride it in reputation for personal integrity, fast action, and creative and flexible transaction structures as well as the positive impacts their developments have on local communities.  Their developments have created thousands of good paying jobs in the communities that most need them.

Business Accomplishments and Community Service:
In 1997, two women, educator Kerry Freeman, and community member Janet MacDonald, decided to enter the neighborhood behind Henry Dalton Elementary school to provide volunteer tutoring to a few children after-school.
Mothers and grandmothers eager for their children to receive the academic assistance and beneficial mentoring, immediately opened their cramped apartments on a rotating basis. Two afternoons a week they lugged books, school supplies, educational games and homemade snacks up the narrow staircases to tutor and encourage the Ninth Street children.
Today, NHH serves students from all eleven elementary schools, all three middle schools, and both high schools from one location on the campus of Foothill Community Church.
Our mission is to partner with parents of at risk Azusa students to provide the tools to thrive academically and socially.  We serve low-income families with students from grades PK-12 attending Azusa Unified School District.
Our vision is to see children, youth, and their families reach a future of fulfillment through specific building blocks.  We believe that beginning with a firm foundation in education students can extend their development into building social skills and spirituality.
The elementary program offers homework assistance by pairing tutors in 1:2 / 1:3 ratio for academic success, creating supplemental workbooks and prescriptive work plan, mentoring students through a character formation program, and creating opportunities for positive social interactions.

July 2016 Business of the Month - Irwindale Event Center

Business Accomplishments
Irwindale Event Center started off life on March 29, 1999 as "Irwindale Speedway" a "twin ring" (one-third and one-half mile) NASCAR-sanctioned, progressively-banked, oval track withjust over 6,000 seats, state-of-the-art lighting, 12 sky-box suites, great close-in parking, up-to-date accommodations for our guests, and some of the best short track racing that anyone has ever seen. (In the May 2003 issue of Speedway illustrated, well-known TV racing analyst, Doctor Dick Berggren, called Irwindale, "America's Nicest Track" and we've always strived to live up to the Doc's assessment.)
Over the years Irwindale has been the site of hundreds of motorsports events (national, regional and local), was one of the venues for the Los Angeles 2013 X GAMES and the Formula Drift championshipfinale, as well as numerous concerts, fairs, car shows, special sales, expos, community and corporate events, and more.
Our eighth-mile NHRA-sanctioned Drag Strip was christened in the latter half of 2000 and has provided a place for fans to have fun and for drivers of all ages to "exercise" their cars in full-out drag racing competition, and in safety, both for them and the people watching. It's very difficult to prove a negative, but we know from talking to the people (drivers, fans, and law enforcement) who come to take part in our regular Thursday night "Test and Tune" events at the drag stripthat this facility has helped greatly to reduce illegal and oft times deadly street racing.
Of course, by now almost everyone has seen the Speedway used as part of an advertising campaign, TV show, or feature film.  Hundreds of "shoots" have taken place here at Irwindale; the track has all the features of a superspeedway and yet is in what the movie and TV people refer to as "The Zone" (close to Hollywood and not subject to extra fees as are "location" shoots).
In very special cases, Irwindale has become a very important (and sometimes secret) test facility for new vehicles, some of which won't reach production for years to come.
Community Service
Public service at IEC runs from sending out special event ticket packages to various non-profit services in the Southern California area to inviting special groups to come to a race at no charge and accept the thanks of community (as we will do on July 30th by inviting all of the first responders who were involved with fighting the "Complex" fire to come out to a night of NASCAR racing on us).
We are also (quietly) proud that LA County Fire, the LA County Sheriff's Office, CHP, and a number other local agencies use our grounds to test equipment and train sworn personnel here on a regular basis.
Our LA Driving Experience stock car racing school is one of the most visited in the United States drawing students from around the county to Irwindale to learn the finer points of driving a 450- horsepower Late Model stock on the Speedway's super-fast half mile oval. Bucket-lister or budding NASCAR star of the future, they all have an exciting time and all remember the name
"Irwindale" as the place where they had a great time. By the way, we have passed along hundreds of 20-Lap "Adventure Passes" to all manner of charities, churches, schools, clubs, and service organizations to use as gifts or to raffle off as very (cool) special prizes.
We try hard to be a good neighbor, striving to end our events before 1OPM at night and working closely with local authorities to mitigate any traffic congestion at peak arrival and departure times.
We are also the home to the Advanced Driving Dynamics defensive driving program that provides young (and in some cases older) drivers with both the tools and the knowledge that they need to stay safe on the highways. Students learn (and become proficient in): emergency braking, skid control and recovery, emergency lane changes, tire blow-out and hydroplaning, driver distraction, and in using a stick shift as well as learning parallel parking.

The Irwindale Event Center can put together some very attractive ticket programs both for employees use and for use by service organizations in their fund-raising activities.
Chamber of Commerce Involvement
The Irwindale Event Center has been a long time member of the Irwindale Chamber and has been very generous with gift certificates and tickets for special events and chamber fundraisers.  And, they exptend this offer - any member who has not been here with their family on Saturday night is hereby urged to give us a call (but NOT on raceday ...OK?) and be our guest(s) for a night.

April 2016 Business of the Month - Johnson-Peltier

Johnson-Peltier has been a family owned business in operation since 1957. Since Howard Peltier's passing 5 years ago, Kevin Peltier has graciously filled his father's role evolving from a long standing Vice President of the company to an outstanding President and owner. Kevin has taken the role in strides and has achieved a great deal with his business, particularly in the last two years. He has reinvested nearly 100% of the annual gross profit back into the business. He has expanded the fleet by with 7 new, fully loaded state of the art trucks specifically designed for Johnson-Peltier's needs. Johnson-Peltier has equipped every field foreman and office staff with an iPhone coupled with brand new computer software. With the iPhone roll out, we were able to streamline JP's payroll process with mobile time tracking allowing foremen to focus more on the job at hand and less on paperwork allowing JohnsonPeltier to improve its quality and use of man hours. Johnson-Peltier has also equipped each truck in the fleet with a full diagnostic GPS allowing us to better understand the field, status of vehicles, route inefficiencies, and identify unsafe driving habits while rewarding safe drivers amongst other things. Additionally, Johnson-Peltier's home office is half way through undergoing a complete overhaul and makeover including new office furniture, new carpet, new paint, a fully equipped employee gym, new parking spaces, and additional warehouse space. Kevin has also doubled the size of the estimating team, re structured work flow process, rolled out new incentives, and brought on new business development personnel. It ls safe to say Johnson-Peltier is thriving and is certainly slated for new growth. Johnson-Peltier is an amazing environment to work in where employees and customers alike are feeling appreciated and cared for on a daily basis and we are already seeing some of the changes paying off in positive ways. At the beginning of these changes, Johnson-Peltier received a highly sought after industry award in 2013 from Miller Coors known as the "Electrical Excellence Award" for a large project. In addition, Johnson-Peltier has secured a multi-year service contract with The Gas Company and has been recognized in several of their internal and external publications for its excellence in service and commitment to the rather complex project.
Johnson-Peltier has always been an advocate of community service, donations, charitable activities, and youth education. Most recently this would involve Johnson-Peltier's support and involvement in minority business outreach, the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce, American Indian Chamber of Commerce, GLOBASE volunteer, and youth education and development. Johnson-Peltier is a certified Minority Business Enterprise (American Indian Owned) and has truly pushed for the advocacy of this status in recent years. Johnson-Peltier has also secured awareness amongst some of the biggest Minority Development councils and groups in the United States. Of course, this status may or may not help the business in terms of selection for potential jobs, but Kevin and the rest of his team have grown a passion and drive for supplier diversity while doing their part in educating companies for fair and diverse spend. Johnson-Peltier has come to truly understand how Minority owned businesses can be affected in the market and does a great deal to improve and adapt these environments. Johnson-Peltier has donated time and money to minority conferences, educational seminars, supplier diversity symposiums and much more. Johnson-Peltier is also a member and supporter of the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of California which is an amazing tool for helping other American Indian owned businesses to network, grow, and support each other while doing their part in holding corporations responsible for honest efforts in diversity spend. Johnson-Peltier has also expanded its efforts and support with the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce through donations and event attendance and is excited to continue to grow its presence there. We are also volunteering with the program "GLOBASE" which will place a group of 7-12 foreign exchange college students with Johnson-Peltier's business development department for an entire week. The commitment extends before and after this week however, and is meant to help develop the students as well as the business. These students will be coming from all over the world through the University of Indiana and Johnson-Peltier is excited to donate it's time to such a wonderful opportunity. Amongst other areas of support, Johnson-Peltier also donated 5 members of its crew, all materials and tools, and Mr. Kevin Peltier himself {the architect and designer) to a local grade school and spent two days building an amazing haunted house for Halloween. !t turned out to be a hit and generated considerable revenue for the school to spend on its science and math education.
Chamber of Commerce Activity
As of year 2016, Johnson-Peltier is a Cornerstone Club member of the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce. Johnson-Peltier has increased its up front donations and membership costs while continuing to support the Chamber in other areas. Johnson-Peltier will have a team member volunteer his time to the golf committee board, one of Johnson-Peltier's favorite chamber functions. JohnsonPeltier will also be handling the material and print costs for the golf shirts to be given out at the tournament. Johnson-Peltier will also look to find other ways to donate and hopefully increase the tournament's pool of active and new donations through the committee and other efforts. Johnson-Peltier also donated a top tier resort getaway as an auction item for the "Havana Nights" Installation and Award dinner function. Johnson-Peltier makes every effort to be involved in as many chamber functions as possible while making an effort to donate at these functions in any way they can while continuing to network with fellow chamber members. Johnson-Peltier hopes that one day it can have a team member become an ambassador and/or join the board of directors to continue its effort in advocating for and supporting the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce.
